WHAT'S ESSENTIAL IN THE CREED

Throughout the centuries, Christian theologians have elaborated deep studies about the Trinity. However, all too many Christians of our day don't succeed in grasping what these admirable doctrines have to do with their life.

Seemingly today we need to hear about God with humble and simple words that touch our poor heart that is confused and discouraged, and they need to comfort us again in our wavering faith. Perhaps we need to recover what's essential in our Creed in order to learn to live it with new joy.

«I believe in God, the Father, Creator of heaven and earth». We aren't alone in the face of our problems and conflicts. We don't live forgotten. God is our dear «Father». Thus Jesus called God and thus we call God. The Father is the origin and the goal of our life. God has created all of us only for love, and God waits for us all with the heart of a Father at the end of our journey through this world.

God's name is forgotten today and denied by many. New generations go about moving away from God, and we believers don't know how to spread our faith, but God keeps looking at all of us with love. Though we live full of doubts, we mustn't lose faith in this God, Creator and Father, since we would be losing our final hope.

«I believe in Jesus Christ, the only Son, our Lord». He is the great gift that God has made to the world. He has told us how the Father is. For us, Jesus will never be just one more person. Looking at him we see the Father: in his actions we capture God's kindness and understanding. In him we can feel God as human, close, friend.

This Jesus, the loved Son of God, has encouraged us to construct a life more fraternal and more happy for all. It's what the Father most wants. In addition he has indicated the path to follow: «Be compassionate as your Father is compassionate». If we forget Jesus, who will fill our emptiness? Who will be able to offer us their light and hope?

«I believe in the Holy Spirit, Lord and giver of life». This mystery of God isn't something far away. The Spirit is present in the depth of each one of us. We can grasp it as Spirit that breaths in our lives, as Love that brings us toward those who suffer. This Spirit is the best there is within us.

It's a great grace to walk through life baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. We must never forget it.
